Omega Institute for Holistic Studies
Omega is a nonprofit, mission-driven, and donor-supported educational organization that has been at the forefront of holistic studies for more than 40 years.
The NEED
When we began our tenure at the Omega Institute in 1995, the organization had developed a reputable brand and identity, but was failing in generating sufficient cash each year to support the investment needed to sustain the campus infrastructure and yearly operations. Service quality and procedural continuity were suboptimal due to the inability to retain sufficient quality staff from year to year in running the summer campus program, minimal fund-raising capacity and insufficient board capacity.
Work Done: 1995 - 2004
As President and Director of Marketing, Patton and Ila directed all facets of the educational organization including management of a 500-bed facility, 400 workshop/retreat catalog, 13K annual guests, and remote locations (e.g. Costa Rica, California, and Austin, TX). Collaborated with the Board of Directors to expand the board, set strategy, re-envision the core business model, secure funding through philanthropy, build brand awareness, and transition the organization to a guest-focused culture. Increased yearly gross revenues from $6.9M to $13.6M over an 8-year period.
